L’Italia dell’arte + CD

10 absolute masterpieces tell the story of Italian art, and, in parallel, of Italian language. The 10 proposed itineraries, moving from works by ‘ top league ‘ and revolutionary artists like Giotto, Michelangelo, Caravaggio or Boccioni, lead the reader through a chronological path of amazing beauty and artistic excellence, while revising and practicing, with targeted activities, grammatical structures and language at CEFR B1-B2 level. Each itinerary analyses a single masterpiece with the help of beautiful photos, related text and comprehension activities. The works are presented in their historical, social and cultural context, with a focus both on their intrinsic artistic value and on their wider significance for History of Art.

The accompanying audio CD contains graded-to-level descriptions of the artistic works, thus enabling the student to practise listening skills while learning art-related vocabulary. Lively dialogues between recurring characters offer samples of contemporary spoken Italian and are especially useful to revise grammar rules and communicative functions.
